Hey Bethany... can you add the "rules" to either this thread or the "official" one so I can keep up with what I'm supposed to be doing?! lol I know I'll flunk out if I don't read the rules & remind myself... figured I might not be the only one that needed to have them handy!

I'm doing it today!! Well, maybe tomorrow. Walking. Around our really big block just once is enough for 30 mins, and it's uphill on the last leg. OK, gotta do it NOW I guess, before I lose my motivation!

Dorothy

Yup... either way. As long as you update it in time for Bethany to check everyone's progress!

gebmom
07-03-2006, 06:02 AM
And in the update thread - you just post one original post - then go back and edit it everytime to add your update. That way it's not 100 pages long AND your weeks are all together.

oh, and I'm not going to curves this morning b/c I didn't really have dinner last night and I think I would pass out if I did, but I will go this afternoon b/c I figure they won't be open tomorrow.

SO - someone stick on me about going later this evening!

I posted my updates in the official thread. Right now, it's a toss up - I usually hate exercise and the morning sickness doesn't make it that much more inviting to get out and move. On the flip side, the in-laws are visiting, so it is really good to get out and get away from all of the household drama.

My junk food weakness for now: Nerds - It's what I've been craving for two weeks. lol I gave in and bought one box, but I'm determined to make it last for at least a week, so I don't feel guilty - not much anyway.

Weeblossom

Sounds like everyone is off to a great start. DH and I decided that we are going to get up 30 minutes earlier everyday and head out on the bikes. This morning we went about 5 miles. I felt so good afterwards. The girls asked if we could go on a bike ride along the river paths tonight and of course we said Yes. LOL The more the better if you ask me. I am hoping to see a change in my clothes by the end of the month.

Nothing done here, either, although I did spend 2 hours playing "get Mommy" in the pool with the boys. Crouched in 2 1/2 foot water so I'd be submerged up to my neck, trying to keep from getting "got". I won't officially count it, but I must have burned SOME calories, right?

I started really slow and would jog short distances...just to get my heart rate up...then I started kinda liking it (sssshh don't tell) and I started jogging a little farther....now I jog - I shouldn't say run cuz it's not fast - but now I am jogging almost 2 miles - my goal is to make the entire 2.5 miles within 2 weeks.

TXAngie
07-04-2006, 08:48 AM
When I was on the treadmill last night I bumped the speed up enough so I had to jog. I lasted 1/10 of a mile! I figure I can only get better!! I'll try that each time I'm walking, bump it up and see how long I can jog, hopefully a little longer each time.

You'll be ready for a 5K race before you know it!!

I think maybe I'm gonna go to the Rec Center tomorrow night...cause I really miss it! I've been dying to go, and I haven't had the time. And of course they have stupid summer hours, so they close at 9, so a lot of times I can't go because I'm still at work!

I don't think I am going to be able to walk tomorrow. I worked out late last night (10pm) since we had been picnicing and eating all day I felt I had to! Then I got up at 5:00am and worked out again. I am really feeling it now and it is only 10am - I figure by tomorrow, I won't be able to get out of bed by myself!

Well, I thought I was gonna get to go to the gym today, but we're going to see our friend's new baby after dance tonight. And the Rec closes at 9, so I won't make it there in time.

And, for the record, I'm not going to count teaching dance class as part of my exercise because it's something that I do every day (during the normal season) and I just don't think that would be very fair. :)

Laura
07-05-2006, 12:27 PM
As soon as the kids are down for nap I'll be doing my "walk away the pounds" thing, plus however much stretching it takes to fill out the half hour. Tomorrow I think I'll go for a bike ride! Truly my favorite form of exercise!

Scrappin4TandMe

And what happened to the Hershey Bars?

Depending on weather - I'm either going to the gym or running outside. If it's nice and cool - I'll run tonight.

flamyngo
07-06-2006, 03:40 PM
I have been doing really consistent, small times... just 30 min a day on the treadmill...

when I first bought the treadmill I was running until I couldn't handle it and it was killer on my knee...(the one I had surgery on a couple of years back) so I finally just decided to start with something super small... like 30 seconds... so for the last 30 seconds on the treadmill I ran... then for the last minute the next day... then for a minute and a half... and so on... eventually I just want to run the entire 30 minutes... but it might take me a couple of months to get there! haha is that silly? should I be trying to run more?

TXAngie
07-06-2006, 03:45 PM
I can't imagine rushing it faster than that, Flamy. I've NEVER been a runner and never got the whole breathing thing down when I'm trying to run. I'm just trying to do more than the day before, which is what you're doing.

flamyngo
07-06-2006, 03:46 PM
you want to hear the weird thing... before if I had tried to run, by two minutes I would have been so tired... but pushing through it... but last night I got done with my two minutes and thought... hey I bet I could have done more! so maybe my little plan is working!

Bickelrcan
07-06-2006, 04:02 PM
I can't do treadmills at all or I ache all over. We bought an elliptical with our income tax this year & I luff it. Same exercise as a treadmill but without the stress on your body.

Peepers
07-06-2006, 04:41 PM
Flamy if its working its not silly! Besides, you don't want to destroy your knee by pushing it too hard too fast.

daizie
07-06-2006, 04:53 PM
That is exactly how I build up to jogging as well! Only I don't do it at the end I usually go in spurts in the middle of my 30 minutes

flamyngo
07-06-2006, 05:02 PM
see, if I go in the middle, then I wimp out and don't finish haha!

DonnaJ
07-06-2006, 05:49 PM
You are starting out the exact right way Jamie...slow and steady. Just increase the time you run slowly until it all connects into one 30 minute period.

I ran 2.1 miles tonight! I almost did the Rocky dance. On Saturday I"m gonna shoot for the entire 2.5 miles.

daizie
07-06-2006, 06:14 PM
Donna you rock :love7:

Kelly Jo
07-06-2006, 07:38 PM
Wow Donna you are something! I'm not a runner so you won't be hearing of any of that from me lol tomorrow is my day at the gym and I plan on working out a lot so wish me luck, if I don't get on here tomorrow I probably died lol

Dorothy
07-06-2006, 11:15 PM
Yup, Flamy, you should work up to jogging more. I am just short of needing surgery on my left knee. The only way I can jog is to work up to it over many months. I don't know if I will get back to running, but this walking every day would be a good way to build up. Take your time... it's better to spread it out & work up to it than to hurt your knee after surgery!

flamyngo
07-07-2006, 12:07 AM
My knee has alway hurt me after that surgery... and honestly the walk/running thing I have been doing has been a LOT of help for it... (it didn't help that when we brought the treadmill in to the house I rehurt it ) but so far it has been pretty good for it!

and DONNA... you need to do the rocky dance! You go woman!

I'm barely hanging in there - 2 days to curves this week - then yesterday I smashed the crap out of my pinky toe - the nail's coming off and it's all bruised - so I didn't even try to put on a sneaker today and go. Hopefully the boys and I are going swimming later.

My workout today involved walking around my neighborhood. Because I had no choice, the kids went with me in our bike trailer/jogging stroller. We live at the top of a hill. The kids together weigh 90 pounds, plus the weight of the stroller, I figure I was pushing 100+ pounds up the hill for the last half of the walk. *phew* That was exhausting!

Last night I did 80 crunches on my exercise ball (20 forward, 20 right, 20 left, 20 forward) and then 10 push-ups on it. Then I did some stuff with the 5lb hand weights.

This morning I did 100 crunches on my exercise ball (25 each way), and 12 push-ups on it.

Let me know about the water exercises. I spend a lot of time just squatting in 2 1/2 feet of water, waiting for Liam to jump in. He doesn't need me to catch him - I never even touch him - but he won't jump without me there. If I could be exercising at the same time, I would be much happier!

My MIL has taken water arobics classes before and really liked them. I missed WW last week, so today when I weighed in (after two weeks) I had lost 8/10ths of a pound. I was telling Evan that I seem to be losing so slowly, but then he figured I've lost an average of 1 lb per week since I've been going to meetings. That's not so bad when I look at it that way.

I did the accelerated pilates workout last night.

It was NOT fun. I got done, sat in the computer chair for about 10 minutes, and then I got extremely nauseous and sick and I had to go to bed. I don't know if it was the heat (cause we aren't running our a/c) or what...but I was ready to throw up.

And there were some things on that video where she said it, and I said out loud "You're kidding me!" and then one thing I just laid on the floor and giggled cause there was NO way I was gonna be able to do it!

I'm really feeling the effects of my little powerwalk yesterday. I didn't think it did much at the time but I'm sure feeling it in my hips & calfs today.

We have lost 6 people total, so that's not to bad! esp. since not all of those people sent in their loot anyway :)
