I am a little late on posting this but it's been a very busy week!
Making your own patterned paper or background paper is a fun and inventive technique to make paper to match almost anything you want to match!
I decided to try and do this with some garage sale stickers and flowers! I saw the garage sale sticker technique on a home improvement show and knew I could apply the technique in scrapbooking. ;-)
You can use any supplies you want to use as your 'mask'. All you need is some paint, glimmer mist, or ink.

I used some glimmer mist in my creation, but if you want, you can get an empty pump spray bottle, add two parts water to one part acrylic paint, and that will give you the sort of 'see thru' paint appearance. You can even try adding glitter into your paint mixture, but make sure it is VERY FINE glitter or else it might not make it through the pump sprayer.
Arrange your 'masks' down on your paper as you want. On mine, I added the garage sale stickers first. This will give you a very cool polka dot effect and the stickers come off nearly effortlessly at the end.

Then comes the fun part....just start spraying your glimmer mist or your paint mixture onto the paper as much or as little as you want. You can even just use a foam paint brush and paint to go over the dots. I added some flowers and die cut paper as masks as well for this background.

Now comes the hard part...waiting for it to dry. Your paper may curl a bit but there is a fast rememdy for that....YOUR CLOTHES IRON!! I also used my clothes iron to make the paper dry quickly as well. Just make sure you put something between the paper and the iron so that the iron doesn't get all gunked up with glimmer mist and paint.
As soon as it is dry, peel off the stickers and you have your very own personalized patterned paper!
