You should really see my "homemade distressing kit".. LOL! After looking at the MM one, I just couldn't justify the expense.. I found most of my stuff at dollar tree/walmart and the packs of stuff came with enough stuff to make 2-3 distress kits..

* emery boards (pack of 25 for $1) and they are in a cute little case
* metal pot scouring pad: (3 in a pack for $1).
* sanding blocks (2 different grits, $1.27 each at wally world)
* sand paper (3 different grits at Family dollar for $1 for about 25 small sheets)
* mini brass bristle brush ($1.75 at home depot)
* bone folder (on clearance at wally world for $1 in the quilting section)
* pounce/stippling brushes ($3-4 for multi pack of about 6 in different sizes at walmart)
* sponge brushes (usually 28-75 cents apeice depending on size, I bought a pack of 25 in several different sizes and styles for $4 at walmart)
* steel wool (buttload of the stuff for less than $2 at walmart)

Then I added some things to make different textures:

* sea foam sponge
* plastic pot scrubby thing
* regular sponge
* foam shoe shine applicator
* make up sponges
* q-tips
* clean make up brush set (different tips/brushes/sponges/etc)
* bath scrunchy (4 in a pack for $1) makes neat textures with ink
* toothbrush
* plastice icing spatula thingie
* mini cheese grater (magnet).. don't know how I am gonna use this yet
* mosiac tile sponge (clearance at walmart $1) kind of rough on one side and smooth on the other
* oh and these cool moistener thingies.. in the office section at walmart (92 cents) looks like a tube with a sponge tip.. I fill them with inks/dyes/water..etc. easy to fill and clean..
* and now I added latex surgical gloves (hehe)
* and a misting bottle for water..

Rit dyes; walnut ink; and my chalks..

I think my kit is jsut about complete..

I even bought a cute little tote thingie at walmart for 94 cents to put it all in..

Great suggestions Missy! You could use the extras to make more kits too! (EBay look out! LOL)

this is awesome. I'm gonna have to print this off. I was tempted to order the distress kit, but I just didn't think people would buy it!!

This is sooooo cool, I am definitely saving this list...I am in the process of re-organizing my office/scrap area and this sounds like something I "need"

This is so awsome! Now if I could just find a distressing class! LOL! I've been wanting to learn and now really thinking the MM distressing kits were worth it knowing that other people were using lots of different things like this! Thanks so much!
